Tami’s Christmas Poem 2008
It’s poem time again this year,
Hoping to spread some holiday cheer.
Can’t say Merry Christmas without offending someone,
So sing, ‘Jesus Loves Me’ real loud, then run.
An election year, how time has passed,
We all went broke so stinking fast.
Santa wondered if his workshop would last,
That was until, the bailout passed.
We come together one time each year,
To make fun of each other and watch Dad lose his beer.
And give the kids a bounce on our lap,
While Grandpa’s on the couch, taking a nap.
My Mom always comes with presents galore,
Someone always suckers her into buying more.
A new baby boy to celebrate Christmas night,
We all look forward to Grandma’s chocolate delight.
A house full of family, what’s better than that?
Remembering Great-Grandpa and his Christmas hat.
My kids are all jacked up on candy and pop,
Can’t beat them? Join them, and maybe they’ll stop.
If my schedule’s too busy to fit you all in,
Just remember I’m thinking of you with a grin.
Merry Christmas my friends, may you all be blessed
And remember to smile even when you’re stressed.
2007
Dashing through the stores with my eyes popping,
We all know Black Friday is my day for shopping.
It’s dangerous to drive when you can’t really see,
That person flipping you off was probably me.
Missed all the good deals, so I’m stuck back at square one,
Thank goodness for internet, that’s my kind of fun.
My kids are all older now, no more babies,
Spent 14 hours making Christmas cards so we know I’m still crazy.
We now have a daughter that’s considered “pre-teen”
So when the phone rings, it’s never for me.
About to set off to get my tree any day,
Doesn’t really matter, I’ll forget to water it anyway.
Too much to do and not enough time,
Gift exchange presents are the hardest to find.
What do you get a mom who has everything?
Maybe I’ll send her a telegram, one that can sing.
I am so blessed to have you in my life,
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
Tami’s Christmas Poem 2006
Do you hear what I hear?
Christmas time is getting near.
Candy cane stuck in someone’s hair,
Chasing children while people stare.
Picture with Santa is always sweet,
As they scream, “I want to eat!”
Gift exchange for the kids at school,
Nothing I pick is ever cool.
Lights are up and I’m doing fine,
Have yet to get our lovely pine.
Plans with family are never clear,
I’d rather stay home and drink a beer.
What to get Grandpa, who really knows?
As long as I wrap it with ribbons and bows.
All kidding aside I send this with love,
Wishing you blessings from heaven above.
May you all have the very happiest of days,
Because it could go wrong in so many ways.
2005
Sleigh bells ring, but I can’t hear them
I’m stuck in traffic without a reason.
I put lights up and feel like such a “go-getter”
But look down the street, and my neighbors’ are better.
The stocking are hung with the smell of perspire
In hopes good behavior is what I’ll acquire
But dreams are what Christmas is all about
When mommy turns ugly, and kids like to pout
You sit there and wonder, how do you wrap a ball?
And it wouldn’t be Christmas if your tree didn’t fall
I just wanted to say on this merriest of days
That I hold you all dear in many ways
Merry Christmas my friends, I send with a kiss
And if you are my family, you asked for this!
